Emilia Romagna, haunted castles and tasting tour

Visit the village of Vigoleno considered one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. Walking through this village you’ll discover how people lived in the Middle Ages, visit the Castle, transformed in the 20s and 30s into an extraordinary cultural club where eminent personalities, among others, Gabriele D’Annunzio and Max Ernst, were used to be welcome guests. Visit the Rocca Viscontea of ​​Castel’Arquato where you’ill arrive climbing between cobbled streets and curves. You’ ll admire this place of harmony walking between the fortress, the Palazzo del Podestà and that of the Duke. You’ll then reach the oldest castle in the province of Piacenza: the Rocca d’Olgisio, one of the most suggestive fortresses both for its dominant position of the valleys, crossed by the rivers Tidone and Chiarone, and for its architecture.

At the Castle of Rivalta  you’ll experience a lunch in an ancient inn  run for decades by a local family. It offers dishes that reproduce the flavors of a rich and varied tradition. In a rustic setting, with terracotta floors and ceilings with wooden beams, it is possible to taste the anolini alla piacentina, the classic dish cooked for the festivity. Before returning to your accomodation, stop for an aperitif with tasting of some typical products, such as cold cuts and cheeses. There is no shortage of wines from the Val Tidone winery, in particular the Gutturnio, the flagship of the Riserva del Conte, called Res Alta, which has the peculiarity of being aged in the cellars of the castle.
