Puglia, Italian language course in the wonders of Salento

The Italian class offered every morning for about an hour and a half. Communicative teaching: real-life situations, some reading, dialogues, short videos and songs. You’ll participate in role-plays, pair or group work, story-telling and simple debates.

We will have short and easy conversations about travel, music, gastronomy, famous Italians, cinema, fashion, architecture, sports and more.

After your class, there will be a guided tour of the estate, focused on organic vegetable farming. The farm produces an excellent extra virgin olive oil, selected by Slow Food as one of the best extra virgin olive oils in Italy. Most of the products used in the restaurant come from the estate’s vegetable garden and trees, all organically grown.The estate is part of the “educational farms” and passes on its knowledge through educational paths. One of the aims of the estate is to raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity and genuine eating. During the guided tour of the farm, you can find out about the various products and pick your own fruit and vegetables directly from the garden, and then rediscover ancient flavours with a ‘zero-kilometre’ aperitif.

After the lesson, you will discover Lecce. With its monuments clad in Lecce stone, every corner of this city is a masterpiece and testifies to the full flowering of Apulian Baroque. Immerse yourself in art and culture by visiting churches, museums and the Roman amphitheatre. Fresh seafood lunch at “Hostaria La Scarpetta”. The restaurant is located in the heart of the historic city centre, a stone’s throw from the majestic church of Santa Croce. “La Scarpetta” has an inner garden of extraordinary beauty, an enchanting place to enjoy a delicious lunch on hot summer days, in the shade of the trees. After lunch, visit with private guide to the historical centre of Lecce, and visit of the Church of Santa Croce and the Cathedral of Lecce.

Visit to the “Tenuta Duca Guarini” organic wine cellar, located a few hundred metres from the facility and within walking distance. A place to discover, with unexpected surprises such as the 18th-century wine cellar, which offers an atmosphere of bygone times. Visit the wine cellar, the barrel cellar and the 16th-century underground oil mill. Light lunch with tasting of two wines of your choice and sampling of EVO oils, accompanied by ‘friselline’ and ‘tarallini’, and other typical gastronomic products of Salento.
