Calabria

Calabria is the tip of the boot, in the extreme south of Italy. Lapped by the splendid waters of the Ionian and the Tyrrhenian sea, it’s separated from Sicily by the Strait of Messina. The warm climate, the wonderful colors of the sea, the rocky coasts alternated with sandy seashores, its wild and mysterious nature, the natural and strong flavors of the local cuisine and the proofs of its ancient origins, make Calabria an unique place to admire both during winter and summer times.

Those who love nature, will have the chance to explore the Calabrian hinterland, discovering a landscape with green expanses interrupted by blue lakes and waterfalls. Those who, instead, want to get a tan under the warm rays of the sun or prefer to dive into the crystalline sea, can choose among the many nice places scattering the shores. In Calabria skiing is also possible, in the Sila, the Pollino and the Aspromonte – places that offers a lot of activities for the sport lovers even during the summertime. Lastly, for those who are interested in discovering the past of this region, cradle of the Magna Graecia and land of very ancient settlements, Calabria offers a wide selection among churches, monasteries, castles and palazzi, hamlets and places like Tropea or Scilla, where secular costumes and traditions are still alive.
