Three days in Campania region, discovering a wild land, Cilento, where the past is still present in the daily life its people. You’ll have the opportunity to discover the origins and the history of the Mediterranean Diet, declared in 2010 the intangible heritage of Unesco. You’ll explore Pollica, in Cilento, land where the landscape has remained almost unchanged and where
ancient traditions and cultivations are carried on with wisdom. Here, the American scientist Ancel Keys, the father of the Mediterranean Diet, lived and studied for 40 years.

The trip will start with a visit to the Castello Vinciprova, which houses the Living museum of the Mediterranean Diet and the Living museum of the Sea. In the evening you’ll have a dinner at  A casa di Delia restaurant  where you’ll get with a beautiful walk along the seafront Ancel Keys. Delia was the housekeeper of Ancel Keys and, together with her son, in 2016, decided to open a place where propose again the recipes that used to cook to him. The dinner will be served on a splendid terrace overlooking the sea, facing the ancient city of Elea (nowadays Velia) and Capo Palinuro.

Visit the historic centre of Pollica and the Castello dei Principi Capano. You will partecipate at the workshop Mani in pasta, a cilento art, handed down from mother to daughter, to prepare Fusilli and Cavatielli, a typical pasta of this area. Visit of the small hillside villages of Celso and Galdo where we will go to the discovery of the Cacioricotta goatcheese, Slow Food presidium of the territory. Tasting based on local products and possibility to make a cheese workshop. Continue to Cannicchio another small medieval village of the Municipality of Pollica. You can’t miss the visit to the seaside village of Acciaroli with aperitif overlooking the sea at sunset. Finally, an excellent dinner at the Il Giardino dei Fiori restaurant in Celso, with its typical local products and homemade desserts.

Let’s change scenery and return further back in time to the Magna Grecia, visiting the Excavations of Velia. Certainly, the excavations, represent one of the jewels of the National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano. It was the center of the ancient trade routes between Greece and Etruria and home of the great philosopher Parmenide.
